63 years ago today

It all started 63 years ago today. The heroic act that set in motion the SCLC nonviolent action that ultimately led to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, establishing that the United States would no longer countenance the brutality and injustice of Jim Crow, brought forth the best and the worst in Americans. The best is found in that when we are convinced that an injustice is real we can muster the will to stand against it. The worst is that we can change laws relatively easily, but it is a slow and arduous task to change culture.
