Pictures of children in cages are all over the Internet. There is a lot of anger at the sheer inhumanity of it.

But not enough.

Yesterday we celebrated the nation’s independence. For some it was a day to glory in our military might. For others, a day to celebrate the genius of the founders. For some it was a day to go to the beach or some other outdoor fun or just a backyard barbecue. It was, in spite of the President’s celebration of aMErica, it was a normal American holiday.

But it shouldn’t be.

Because there are pictures of children in cages all over the Internet. All over our national consciousness. How can we celebrate a nation that celebrates while innocent children suffer in government cages.
